The Poodle's appearance is that of a very active, intelligent and elegant-appearing dog, squarely built, and proportioned well.
Few dogs have climbed to such high favor in so many different countries as has the Poodle, but it appeared so early in various parts of the world that there is some doubt as to the land of it's origin. At any rate, the Poodle undoubtedly originated as a water retriever.
